Thunder on the Missouri 10

(SB) - In a spectacular display of patriotism and unity, the streets of Sergeant Bluff and South Sioux City roared with the sound of about 300 motorcycles participating in the annual “Thunder on the Missouri” ride. The event, held on Sunday, May 26, the day before Memorial Day, was a moving tribute to fallen veterans.
The ride began at noon at the American Legion Post 662 located at 901 E Topaz Dr, Sergeant Bluff, IA 51054. Riders from all walks of life gathered, their vehicles ranging from motorcycles to cars, embodying the spirit of inclusivity that the event promotes.
At 2 p.m., the riders, escorted by local law enforcement, embarked on their journey. They headed north on South Lewis Boulevard, turned onto 1st Street, and then exited onto Interstate 29 on their way to South Sioux City.
After regrouping and “flagging up” at South Sioux City High School, the riders proceeded to Siouxland Freedom Park. Here, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a remembrance ceremony open to the public was held. The riders encircled the Freedom Park via the walking/bike path, presented the Thunder Salute, and then adjourned to the Wall area for a short ceremony.
This year marked the 10th annual Thunder on the Missouri ride. The event, free and open to all vehicles, has grown in popularity over the years, with last year’s event attracting over 200 bikers.
The Thunder on the Missouri ride continues to be a beacon of unity and remembrance, honoring those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. As the echoes of the thunderous ride fade, the memories of our fallen heroes remain, etched in the hearts of all participants and spectators.
