2.bPresentation by the School Superintendent
Chad Janzen, School Superintendent, is working on gathering signatures to get the bond election on the ballot in November. In April they announced a three phase (long term) approach to school facilities at a lower tax rate than was asked for in the past. The November bond issue would go into a new primary building, CTE building (shared with Western Iowa Tech (WIT)), and redo infrastructure of the oldest part of the high school. The facilities are not being built bigger to add open enrollment. They will receive 2 million from WIT and 1 million in State grants for the CTE. He described various changes, upgrades, features, and
programs that will go along with these changes. He reviewed how the $2.85 levy would impact the taxes property owners would pay. In fall of this year they will use Penny/PPEL funds to move the baseball/softball and tennis courts to the East campus to prepare for the new primary building. He also described future phases and what the anticipated facility changes would be. He invited community members to call and talk through the plan if any questions.
