SALIX DRAINAGE DISCTRICT PUBLIC HEARING
April 16, 2026
Mayor Nelson opened the Salix Drainage District Classification Public Hearing at 6:00pm on Thursday, April 16, 2026. 
Council Members Present: Denise Burkhart, Brenda Smith-Hansen, Emily Clayton, Gene Monk, and Nick Black.  Others Present: Chad Kehrt, V&K Engineer, Ryan Buske, Drainage Attorney, Ashley Mareau, City of Salix, Drainage Clerk.
• Mayor Nelson introduced the Council Members, and others present, to the residents in attendance  
• Mayor Nelson opened the Public Forum for residents’ questions and comments. 
Paul Iverson asked about final cost, who was being assessed and why others were not. Are we going to keep up with the work to avoid these repairs in the future. 
All questions answered. 
• Kehrt reviewed with Classification Report with those in attendance
• Mareau confirmed the Hearing Notice was published in the time required
• Buske reviewed the one objection received
• No other comments or objections were voiced
• Clayton motioned to close the Classification Hearing, Burkhart seconded, all ayes, hearing closed.
• Burkart motioned to accept and proceed with the Classification “as is”. Clayton seconded. Roll call vote: Burkhart (aye), Smith-Hansen (aye), Clayton (aye), Monk (aye), Black (aye). Classification passed and approved.
Clayton motioned to close the hearing, Monk seconded, all ayes. Mayor Nelson closed the hearing at 6:35 pm.
