SPECIAL MEETING
August 27, 2026
Mayor Nelson opened the Special Meeting of the Salix City Council at 6:00pm on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Council members present: Denise Burkhart. Tim Skidmore, Brenda Smith-Hansen, Gene Monk, Emily Clayton was absent
Others present: Eric Updegraff (per phone), Ashley Mareau
• Burkhart motioned to approve Resolution 2026-17, Resolution Setting Attorney Rate. Smith-Hansen seconded. Roll call vote: Monk (aye), Skidmore (aye), Smith-Hansen (aye), Burkhart (aye). All ayes, motion approved.
• Mayor Nelson requested a closed session per Iowa Code Chapter 21.5 to discuss strategy with legal counsel in matters where litigation is imminent and where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the government. Skidmore motioned to go into closed session at 6:02 pm which was seconded by Monk. All ayes, motion carried.
• Motion by Burkhart to adjourn the closed session at 6:26 pm, seconded by Skidmore. All ayes, motion carried.
• The special meeting was adjourned at 6:26 pm on motion from Skidmore and seconded by Smith-Hansen.
