4.aRES 25-21 Consent to the Mayor's Appointment of Fire Chief and Determine Compensation for Fire Chief

Motion by Ron Hanson, seconded by Andrea Johnson to name Anthony Gaul as the First Full-Time Fire Chief and Approve RES 25-21 Consent to the Mayor's Appointment of Fire

  Chief and Determine Compensation for Fire Chief. Motion Carried. [Unanimous]

4.bMayor's Presentation of New Full-Time Fire Chief

Jon Winkel said that approximately two years ago he appeared before the Fire Department and discussed that there would be more responsibilities and changes to the Fire Department. In February of 2025 the Constitution and By-laws for the Fire Department were updated. He had previously spoken to Anthony about the goal of having a combination volunteer/paid Fire Department where more individuals are paid. The City Council put the City into a good position to do that through the budget process. He explained that they received two other applications for the position. He congratulated Anthony Gaul on receiving the Full-time Fire Chief Position.

Anthony Gaul said that he appreciated the opportunity. He is looking forward to moving things forward. He is fortunate that we have so many good people on the Fire Department.
