(SBA) - The Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center is excited to announce that it has received Birding Backpacks from the Loess Hills Audubon Society. They have donated two backpacks for visitors to use while at the Nature Center to encourage birdwatching and enjoying the outdoors together.
The backpacks include a pair of binoculars, bird identification book, and local bird guides. The packs are available to use during open hours. The Loess Hills Audubon Society received funds for this project by a Mildred Anderson Community Grant from the Junior League of Sioux City. They have also donated backpacks to Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve and the Sioux City Public Library. The Nature Center also recently received a Memorial donation of a Haikubox. This device records the calls and songs of birds outdoors. Becky Williams donated this in honor of her brother, David Price. Visitors can see and hear the birds the Haikubox has recorded at the following website: https://birds.haikubox.com/
