New CCC Garbage Collection Starts Sept. 30th

Posted

(SBA) - Starting September 30th, the City of Sergeant Bluff will transition to a new residential garbage contractor, Carrier Container Company. This change will not affect recycling services.

From September 16th to 20th, new black garbage carts with a yellow logo should have been delivered to homes. Residents who have not received their carts are advised to contact the city. The final garbage pickup by Gill Hauling will occur on September 24th and 25th. Residents should leave all Gill Hauling carts out for collection after the last pickup. Carrier Container Company will commence service on September 30th, starting with the Monday route.

Residents are instructed to place the new trash cans within 2 feet of the curb, with handles facing away from the street, and to leave at least 3 feet between multiple carts. Carts should be set out the night before the scheduled pickup day to ensure timely collection.

Yard waste is not permitted in the trash cans. Residents must take yard waste to the compost site or purchase a lawn tag for $3.00 from City Hall. The compost site operates on Wednesdays from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm until November 7th.

This change will not impact commercial or business garbage pickup, as the city only provides residential services.

Garbage can rates are as follows: the first can is $16.50, the second can is an additional $10.00, and the third can is an additional $6.00. Residents with questions about the number of carts or who wish to adjust their service should contact Jeanette at City Hall at 943-4244.

Carrier Container Company will observe the following holidays, with service running one day behind when the holiday falls on a weekday: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

Carrier Container Company has both a Facebook page and a Website where information will be available about garbage service. https://www.carriercontainercompany.com/ (Click on the “Sergeant Bluff Residents” tab)
