1.Call to Order
The regular November 2024 meeting of the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Board of Education was called to order by President Jeff Wright at 6:00 a.m. 
2.Approval of the Agenda

3.Welcome Visitors & Guests
President Wright welcomed the visitors and asked if anyone present wished to address the board.  No oral or written comments were provided.

The minutes of the meetings from October were reviewed by the board.

7.Recognition
Mr. Klingensmith recognized:   
•Blake Harsma qualified for state golf.  
•Volleyball team for qualifying for the state tournament!  
•Football team for qualifying for the state playoffs.  
•Volleyball:  Bre VanDen Top 1st team unanimous all conference; Bailey Ball & Kaitlyn Hardie, 2nd team all conference; Jayden Kneifl honorable mention.
•Brooklyn Ocker, Izzy Brodersen, Kara Andersen, Abby Andersen, Ella TerWee, and Alyssa Pelchat for the outstanding job singing the National Anthem at the volleyball games.  Great job ladies!!
•We had 26 High School junior and senior leaders that helped with the Humanity Launch at the Middle School.
Dr. Brown recognized: 
•Northwest Iowa Honor Band:  Sara Odell, Bode Bockenstedt, Josiah Mitchell
•Northwest Iowa Honor Choir - 8th Grade:  Izzy Carrell, Makenna Crawford, Gabe DeAnda-Ramirez, Roxy Dean, Emily Eckhoff, Evy Edlund, Hunter Guthmiller, Marcus Haase, Julianne Rassel, Dani Thelander, Evy TerWee, Charlotte Timmons, Quincy Timmons
•Northwest Iowa Honor Choir - 8th Grade: Bode Bockenstedt, Sophia Cappetta, Savannah Moseman
Mr. McCauley recognized: 
•The following Middle School Choir Students that made Northwest Iowa Jr. High Honor Choir and performed at Storm Lake with students from 35 other NW IA schools. 
oDani Thelander, Julianne Rassel, Sophia Capetta, Savannah Moseman, Emily Eckhoff, Quincy Timmons, Charlotte Timmons, Evalyn Terwee, Roxy Dean, Makenna Crawford, Izzzy Carrell, Bode Bockenstedt, Hunter Guthmiller, Marcus Haase, Evy Edlund, Gabe DeAnda-Ramirez
•High School senior Kara Andersen for being selected to the Iowa All-State Honor Choir.  The 601 students selected from the state will perform in Ames at the Hilton Coliseum on Saturday, Nov. 23rd.
•The following Middle School Band students were selected for the Iowa Northwest Iowa Honor Band.  They will perform this Saturday at Dordt College in Sioux Center.

Mrs. Adams recognized: 
•Nurse Tina Johnson-Zimney who came upon an auto accident on her way to work and stopped to assist.
•Dr. Brown for being creative in her presentation to a student. 
Mrs. Konopasek recognized Officer Hutzell for taking students to the hockey game for DARE.
8.Administrative Reports
a.Dr. Brown
Dr. Brown discussed the parent-teacher conference and the middle school students that are involved in activities.  She talked about the Humanity Launch and how excited and helpful the student leaders are.  Literacy House File 2618 was reviewed.  The Middle School System Structures for Academic and  Social Emotional Behavior Health was discussed.  
b.Mr. Klingensmith
Mr. Klingensmith provided the enrollment numbers.  He reviewed Professional Development and how they deal with ways to increase student engagement as well as the SDI and Multi Tied Systems Supports.  An update was provided on the Therapeutic Classroom.   He provided some concerns with ESL.

10.Superintendent Report
a.Enrollment Update
Mr. Janzen provided updated enrollment numbers.  The October Enrollment Count is used for funding for 2025-2026.  Included in the numbers was an update on English Language Learner numbers.  A discussion took place concerning English Language Learners.
b.Bond Election Results
Mr. Janzen and the board discussed the bond election results.  
c.Facilities Update
Superintendent Janzen provided an update on the East Campus athletic project.
d.January Board Meeting is on the 9th
The regular board meeting would have been January 2nd, following a holiday.  Therefore it was scheduled for January 9th.
