(SBA) - The first day of school at Sergeant Bluff-Luton was filled with excitement, gratitude, and community spirit as students and staff celebrated the start of a new academic year. Thanks to generous contributions from local businesses and the hard work of the high school leadership team, the day was a memorable one.
Students were welcomed with a variety of treats, including ice cream from David at Blue Bunny, fresh fruit from Drew at Fareway, pizza and cookies from Karen at Casey’s, and sports drinks from Adam at L&L Distributing. These thoughtful donations helped create a festive atmosphere and were enjoyed by students and staff alike.
The day ran smoothly, with plenty of smiles and positive energy throughout the school. Staff members expressed their appreciation for the support and are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead with the incredible students at SBL.
Much of the day’s success was driven by the high school leadership team, a group of students selected for their potential to become strong leaders within the school community. These students took the initiative to contact local businesses for donations, coordinated delivery logistics, and distributed the treats to their peers. They also curated a playlist of upbeat music to welcome classmates and created colorful posters displayed throughout the school to encourage a positive start to the year.
Their efforts not only helped kick off the school year on a high note but also demonstrated the power of student leadership and community collaboration.
