The Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council (SIMPCO) Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is seeking public input on the Draft 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), which outlines transportation priorities and investments for the region through the year 2050. Final approval of the plan is scheduled for January 8, 2026.
The SIMPCO MPO planning area includes:
• Iowa: Sioux City, Sergeant Bluff, and portions of Woodbury and Plymouth Counties
• Nebraska: Dakota City, South Sioux City and a portion of Dakota County
• South Dakota: Dakota Dunes, North Sioux City and a portion of Union County
The LRTP serves as a roadmap for creating a safe, efficient, and multimodal transportation system. It addresses improvements for streets and highway, public transit bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and other modes to meet future mobility needs.
