Lemonade Stand to Aid Flood Victims

Bluff’s Little Thinkers come together to support the community

(SBA) - In response to the recent severe weather and devastating floods in Siouxland, the children and staff of Bluff’s Little Thinkers Child Care in Sergeant Bluff have taken a stand. From June 26-28 and July 1-3, they’ve set up a lemonade stand to do their part and help flood victims. This simple yet significant gesture is their way of making a positive impact in the community.

The lemonade stand, a symbol of their resilience and community spirit, is located in front of the Bluff’s Little Thinkers building at 306 1st Street in Sergeant Bluff. It will be open from 10AM-2PM, Monday, July 1 through Wednesday, July 3.

Desiree, a preschool assistant at Bluff’s Little Thinkers, emphasizes the importance of this initiative. She believes it teaches the children about unity, empathy, and the power of community during challenging times. “Even though they’re small, they can still make a big difference,” she says.

The children have been involved in every step of the process, from making the lemonade to baking cookies and brownies. They’ve also created thank you notes to hand out to donors, adding a personal touch to their efforts.

As for the use of the donations, Desiree explains that while they haven’t decided for sure, the funds will definitely go to flood victims. They’re considering taking the older children on field trips to deliver food to those affected, whether they’re helping with cleanup or temporarily displaced from their homes.

Desiree sees this as a valuable learning opportunity for the children. “It’s a great example for them. It’s horrible it’s happening, but this is perfect for them to learn. They can visually see that they are helping. They can see the cause and effect with this, so I think it’s really great for them.”

So, come and support our community children making a difference. Stop by the lemonade stand and make a donation. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Free will donations are accepted.
