Russel J. Schulte, 79 of Salix, Iowa passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026 at a local hospital. Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2026 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Russel was born August 7, 1947 to Jonathan and Bernice (Bear) Schulte in Breese, Illinois. He graduated from the Catholic High School in Trenton, IL. Russel married Marianne Reding in 1969, and they were blessed with four sons: Brian, Todd, Timothy, and Derek.
He worked at Tyson Foods in Dakota City in the maintenance department until retiring in 2012.
Russel is survived by his three sons, Brian Schulte, Todd Schulte, and Timothy "Tim" Schulte; four grandchildren: Gaberelle, Kurtis, Caydence, and Adelyn, his brother, Don (Mary) Schulte, and two sisters, Kathy Benidorf and Mary Jo Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, son, Derek, and his parents.
